Yondu Udonta is a major character in the Guardians of the Galaxy tril ogy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe .
He is the adoptive father of Peter Quill/Star-Lord , an exiled member of the Ravagers , and was the leader of his own Ravager clan before losing his position in a mutiny. After eliminating his former subordinates who betrayed him, Yondu decided to join the Guardians of the Galaxy in stopping his former employer, Ego. He sacrificed himself to save Peter, and was honored by his teammates for his sacrifice.
